Top 10 Recommendation
Comment by Ray Griffiths ( )(8/30/2016 2:50:14 AM) - Impressive. The zoom range is why I chose the Lumix over the Sony, it's virtually the same camera otherwise. I find for general out-and-about photography it is my camera of choice nowdays.

Top 10 Recommendation
Comment by Ray Griffiths ( )(8/2/2016 2:51:58 AM) - Sharp where it needs to be and a colourful image

Comment by Ray Griffiths ( )(7/31/2016 3:35:54 AM) - #2 Stuart Holmes:

This camera has a function called "Post Focus" which, in simple terms, allows you to select the focus area after the image has been taken. In practice it is a bit more of a faff. It involves selecting a camera function that takes a short 4K video burst at different focus settings. During the shot, the camera must not be moved. After the shot, the touch screen is used to select the focus and an appropriate frame is saved as a jpg.

Being a compact, though, depth of field is not a strong feature, so if this was a serious shot I'd be using my DSLR. I'm just playing to see what can and can't be done with a walkabout.

I see the camera being used when I want to travel light or I want to be inconspicuous or, as is often the case nowadays, my DSLR is on a tripod setup for something else.

Comment by Ray Griffiths ( )(7/31/2016 2:51:15 AM) - We don't get these birds, wish we did, they're very colourful. Nice catch but maybe a bit central with too much dead space at the top. What was the crop you were considering?

Comment by Ray Griffiths ( )(7/29/2016 2:44:31 AM) - An interesting play of colour and line, I feel though something is missing, something to anchor it. An aquatic animal, perhaps.

Comment by Ray Griffiths ( )(7/28/2016 2:40:15 PM) - I like the soft colour and oof areas

Comment by Ray Griffiths ( )(7/22/2016 4:09:26 AM) - I think a tighter crop might highlight the intention. See attached.

Comment by Ray Griffiths ( )(7/22/2016 3:59:20 AM) - I like the angle which adds a three-dimensional look. The person on the balcony is a bonus.

Comment by Ray Griffiths ( )(7/22/2016 2:44:37 AM) - Keeping this site alive is the most important issue, personally I'm happy to see every post that lands here. Too many have dropped out to make an issue out of whethet an image is good or bad though constructive criticism is never a bad thing as long as things don't escalate.
