Comment by oblivia(9/10/2014 11:08:49 PM) - Love the contrast of the curvy lines and the thorny texture. Your choice of b/w enhances the comparison.

Comment by Ceri(5/30/2014 9:59:18 AM) - Nice B&W study

Comment by upche(4/1/2014 1:11:04 PM) - Great!

Comment by Ray Griffiths ( )(3/31/2014 11:54:28 AM) - Simple and effective B&W

Comment by Elisabeth(3/31/2014 10:06:46 AM) - Beautiful grafical effect!

Top 10 Recommendation
Comment by Ray Griffiths ( )(3/30/2014 3:46:56 AM) - Good.

Comment by TW_Bda (Tim White)(3/29/2014 3:10:18 PM) - Nice pose, well caught. A little more room on the right might help, and the eye can be brought out to add impact.

Comment by Steve Webb(3/28/2014 3:46:41 PM) - Tim I think you are correct that this is a Tricolor Heron I have other pictures of him showing a white belly which a Little Blue Heron does not have. The color in the image is a blue gray and is very close to how he looked in the field.

Comment by Ray Griffiths ( )(3/28/2014 11:01:54 AM) - An excellent catch, more light in the eye would nail it for me.

Comment by Tim Pereira ( T-Bear)(3/28/2014 10:46:55 AM) - This is a Tri-Color Heron, not a little blue.

Nice pose but these guys are not this blue and this[^352;719;1]&[^30;786;1]are very distracting.

Comment by incult (Marius Caragea)(3/28/2014 10:24:35 AM) - What a nice pose. Nice!

Comment by Ceri(3/7/2014 5:27:54 AM) - Nice capture - I can feel the cold.

Comment by LindaY (Linda Y)(3/6/2014 7:55:39 PM) - Good feather detail and nice colors. I agree about the lack of sharpness in the eye. I also wish that the tail of the bird were not cut off by the frame.

Comment by B2O(3/6/2014 5:31:34 PM) - I am getting cold out here. Nice shot but agree with earlier comments. Could not resist to try and get the eye sharper. It is such a nice winter image. Gr. Bas

Comment by snorrih(3/6/2014 4:23:41 PM) - Very interesting, a bit to narrow i think but good catch

Comment by Wessel-130766(3/6/2014 3:20:43 PM) - Missing the focus is a big pity. Otherwise it was a winner. Colors are great
Wished also for a bit more space in bottom and left side

Clone this out[^646;794;1]

Comment by Steve Taylor(3/6/2014 11:47:02 AM) - Great color and the snow is an added bonus. You need to have the eye sharper. I really don't do much wildlife or portrait photography but one thing I have learned from this site is that the eyes have to be in focus. You missed your mark by a tad.

Comment by Sreten(3/6/2014 10:46:42 AM) - Cute and nicely taken.

Comment by Ray Griffiths ( )(3/6/2014 10:33:46 AM) - I love them when they are fluffed up like this. Focus seems to be a little out, on the wing rather than the eye.

Comment by Ceri(3/6/2014 8:40:11 AM) - Nice capture - good detail and colourings

Comment by Reda Danaf(3/5/2014 4:44:31 AM) - Beautiful avian capture, nice post work.

Comment by Ray Griffiths ( )(3/4/2014 12:34:13 PM) - Poor l'il birdie, soon be spring again!

Comment by ORZECHOWSKI (. .)(2/27/2014 2:22:16 PM) - Nice capture and details with good tones.Regars

Comment by Jeanne Miller(2/27/2014 11:09:28 AM) - I like the straight on non-exciting composition very much. Something sly or je ne sais quoi about it for which the sparkly snow is a perfect foil. ;)

Comment by Reda Danaf(2/23/2014 11:14:33 AM) - Beautiful avian capture Steve..Agree with Tim.

Comment by TW_Bda (Tim White)(2/23/2014 10:06:42 AM) - Nice details on the bird, but I find the crop too tight to the right and bottom. There is also a blue cast to the whole image that can be lifted.

Comment by LindaY (Linda Y)(2/23/2014 9:26:13 AM) - Excellent exposure on this little House Finch with all of the snow around him. DOF and sharpness are very good. I also like that the bird has a bit of seed in his mouth as it is a real plus for this image.

Comment by Reda Danaf(2/22/2014 4:44:25 AM) - Beautiful avian capture, fine details.

Comment by Wessel-130766(2/20/2014 2:32:42 PM) - Ditto Linda

Comment by LindaY (Linda Y)(2/20/2014 1:25:44 PM) - Very nice detail on this little bird, particularly on the eye. Your exposure on the snow is nice as well. I do agree with Bas that the composition could be more exciting and I do wish that the feet were in focus,

Comment by B2O(2/20/2014 9:45:21 AM) - Agree with Ray. Great details and clarity and you handled the light of the BG very well. The composition could be more exciting.
Gr. Bas

Comment by Ray Griffiths ( )(2/20/2014 8:52:49 AM) - I've not heard of this bird before and had to look it up. Looks a lively little chap. You could lighten the eye and give it twinkle.

Comment by April (Cindy Metzger)(12/22/2013 9:48:38 PM) - Thank you Steve. Lovely Christmas card. Merry Christmas and wishing you a Healthy, Happy New Year!

Comment by TW_Bda (Tim White)(12/17/2013 3:55:09 PM) - Great action here - I like the shot. I suggest a slight crop, and if you have the pixels, try to bring out a bit more detail on the main focus of the image.

Comment by Jeff Brown UK(12/17/2013 2:57:55 PM) - Superb, well caught.

Comment by Geordie (Dean Wilson)(12/17/2013 9:33:05 AM) - Great action pic with lots of expressions on faces - 8 v 3 is a little unfair on the mites tho' lol!

Comment by Ivan (Ivan Miksik)(12/11/2013 6:40:50 AM) - It's a very nice portrait! I like it!

Comment by joe bellantoni(9/24/2013 4:13:52 PM) - #4 Yosi Helmann: All is possible in ps....

Comment by Yosi Helmann(9/24/2013 3:22:11 AM) - Nice try. I think the good white make the blacks to be un remarkable.

Comment by rafal_antoniuk(9/23/2013 11:38:16 PM) - Greta bird-portrait.

Comment by Wessel-130766(9/23/2013 12:22:28 PM) - Maybe you also could comment on other images and try to rate them instead of just giving a 7.8 without any comments.

The whites are too bright. If this is coming from a raw file you can correct the most of it.
The shadows don;t have detail also. Also correctable with raw

Comment by joe bellantoni(9/23/2013 12:15:01 PM) - might sharpen it up a little more...nice pose you caught...using brushes in ps you could put more detail in the whites......did you shoot this through glass?

Comment by Wessel-130766(9/20/2013 7:19:41 PM) - Ditto Rafal

Comment by Hania (Anna Franek)(9/20/2013 4:15:53 PM) - Amazing bird's portrait!
