My first outing with my new 12-24 and I was lucky enough to be presented with this situation. This heavy fog on this morning had started to break and the sun was shooting down beams through the trees. This is my first time trying to capture beams like this so any suggestions on how I could improve this would be greatly appreciated. Logicor tumescent arthroplastic figured phototype malonanilic.

Superb lighting, the sun rays are spot on. Good foreground with the rocks leading nicely into the shot.

I think you have done this work very well. Unfortunately current technology does not provide us with the opportunity to capture the full dynamic range. Here the top of the graph is a tad hot, perhaps an adjustment to the exposure, say about -1/2 EV would have helped. But, overall, one cannot dismiss the fact that this is an excellent work.

agree with MB1, I think your signature distracts from the overall view though. I might fade it a bit or delete it entirely

Two exposures one for the top light and the other for the rest then PS. You can cobine the two and erase the over exposure. Great comp and beautiful image.

Scott .. this is beautiful, or as Bill Taylor said "A killer shot". Also I think my earlier fooling around with crops led me to the same crop as Bill's. His comments are so easy to follow ... :O)

This gives me the impression that with the great light you stumbled upon an outdoor cathedral. It really pays to get in the morning for a shoot ... really nice work. I too have a 12-24mm and now you are encouraging me to give up my Saturday morning sleep-in! LOL! :O)

Did you try a grad? Not that it matters, you came out with a great image. Not a lot to beat that special time of day, nor anyone in the way.

Scott...for the heck of it next time try carring a black card with you...sometimes the lens shade just doen not cut it especially if it is one of those cut away shades...I can't see any flare but as I said sometimes you get a slight loss of contrast at the top ...give it a try.

Beautiful - you were wise to copyright this one!
46 George Oze   (5/15/2005 12:33:00 AM)
Scott, This is very good! The only think I can think of is use a ND GD filter with a warming filter attached to make the rays stronger ar warmer.

My first comment on PB. I'm prejudiced--I love falling water shots. You've done an excellent job at stopping the action, yet avoiding the "plastic" look that sometimes occurs with longer exposures. The "beams" are a nice touch.
