Very, very nice, Les. The only thing I would consider is cloning out the power lines.
2 Kid Panama   (7/18/2005 3:34:24 PM)
The power lines are fine there IMO. After all, there's not always the need to take things out and distort the truth. Overall it's a nice comp. I think however, that the shadow areas are a bit too dark and somewhat lacking in detail and also make the image too muddy in the LRC portion of the image. I also think just a small crop at the top gives the image a better perspective and size ratio.

Excellent painting. Great smoothness and lighting.
8 RonBeam   (7/18/2005 4:26:32 PM)
Mmmm .. a shot that whispers, "tranquility." That fog pouring itself over the treeline is an astonishing find! Not much fog where I am, but I love its effect of defining distances within a frame, so well used here.
9 Willow   (7/18/2005 5:20:09 PM)
Not bad Les, Appealing picture completely.Bottom of photo for dark IMHO of course, but generally ok :)
i hope that I have written it has that meaning

a small portion of darkness but I imagine if I was there at this time of day that is how it would appear to my naked @@ eyes :o
13 Corry   (7/18/2005 5:56:21 PM)

14 keith   (7/18/2005 6:19:42 PM)

15 Igor L. (Igor Laptev)   (7/18/2005 6:39:20 PM)
Very nice and moody!
16 docmm   (7/18/2005 7:00:25 PM)
That bank of low mist is a gem. Love the colours of the sunrise. Dang powerlines, should never be allowed. What do you think to taking out the FG area of shadow?

Les, have you looked at this mirror-imaged? Comfort levels may just rise a tad bit. If not, you can always press "undo."
18 archera (Roland DiSabatino)   (7/18/2005 8:36:05 PM)
Looks to me like this scene was the promise of a fine day on the way. I kinda' like it as-is, although Ron Beam's idea of a horizontal flip is not bad.
19 joe bellantoni   (7/18/2005 8:36:27 PM)
What's wrong with the power lines they are here to stay...nice one Lesley....
20 Kim Adams (Let's go Cardinals! )   (7/18/2005 10:57:19 PM)

40 Rick X (Rick Xavier)   (7/19/2005 10:51:40 AM)
Les, I came back ! LOL. You know, my monitor is very bright. It´s calibrated. This image is a little dark at right, bottom, side. The overall tone and mood (mist) is just superb. I´d love to see with more 'light'. Anyway, it´s a great 'farm' shot.
41 FrankT ( pot'hbe'chug yay qa)   (7/19/2005 12:10:38 PM)
very good Les, love that misty view and soft colors.
42 Greg (Greg Governale)   (7/19/2005 2:00:19 PM)
the contrast and fog work very well! The sharpness and comp are very good. It looks very nice the way it is....I think in this image the power lines should stay.....The gate, fence, building, path etc. show the signs of man anyway! Greg Governale
43 Gianluca Posella   (7/19/2005 2:04:14 PM)
Wonderful Les! Thanks for sharing.
44 Donald Campbell   (7/19/2005 4:34:18 PM)
Good use of colour and strong leading lines. It works for me, Les.

So so nice mood and colors you get in this photo Les, i would describe it as perfect!
48 Susan Heller   (7/19/2005 10:57:10 PM)
Les, I can't be constructive, there is nothing to make this better, other than if it were Texas, that's all. ;-)

Power lines don't bother me a bit. They actually seem to "assist" the fog. They are so far away they add visual interest rather than detract.

Congratulations, this is beautiful.
49 Sufyan   (7/20/2005 12:03:31 AM)
This realy great. The light, the colors, the lines and the gate.

I missed this one. So, if I come over your way in February, does that mean I have to go buy a grad filter? And if I do, will you give me lessons? Is there a wide-angle converter for a 300mm?

BTW, and of course you know this, this is a stunning photograph.
