Stuning composition, great colors and lighting. Is this edge intentional?
2 MarioP   (9/26/2005 5:45:12 PM)
very fine shot: I like the colourfull "bits" flying...
3 robinschooley (Robin Schooley)   (9/26/2005 5:46:00 PM)
I LOVE hot air balloons. Hope you were airborne, too. From the looks of this you either were or had a great vantage point. There is nothing like the feeling of riding in one of these. You don't feel like you are leaving the ground.... it is more like the ground is leaving you. Got more?
4 Martynas   (9/26/2005 5:50:38 PM)
Joe, this one is amazing! Really.
5 joe bellantoni   (9/26/2005 5:56:45 PM)
#1 Sergio Pessolano: not intentional sergio...I thought i had it cropped but I must have caught the edge. Thanks I will try to fix it.

joe, this is awesome, i'm in fact shocked you didn't invite me there.. lol.. seriously, this picture has it all, the composition, colors, brightness, saturation, one nit, ofcourse there is one, what's with the white right part? and yes, my dear other blinkers, this is no sucking up, just an honost opinion on a terrific picture which i would be proud of if it was on my wall!. . . and you thought it was a just 4 fun pic err???
cheers dude!!
:)

I like the way this is composed Joe. No elements cut off. I've been up in those contraptions twice now. Quite peaceful really as they only go up in calm weather and the basket seems to hang there rock solid. Perfect for ariel phototography.
8 J.L.   (9/26/2005 6:15:09 PM)
Great balloon composition. It is so much fun to take a balloon ride and drink champagne when you land safely.

#2 MarioP(Mario Pereira):
#3 robinschooley(Robin Schooley):
#4 Martynas(Tooth for tooth, eye for eye!): I was on a hill for the vantage point here and had to wait for some time for them all to get into position like this...they were all bunched up to start and they constantly move so getting something like this just takes patience. This area is mostly pine trees so the colors for fall don't usually show up. Robin I have flown in the one with the dragon on it many times and was unable to this trip.I can say that this is one of the best night flights for wind and weather in about 5 years...I have many more but I think I will only post 1 more I really like with a shadow of another balloon on it.I don't want to bore anyone with lots of balloons unless I hear differently. If any of you ever go to do this make sure the sun is on the balloon not in back of it.
An interesting note: when you ride in one of these you are going the same speed as the wind so there is no wind in the basket and a candle flame would hardly move.
10 4wd   (9/26/2005 6:37:48 PM)
Outstanding Joe.
- Almost unreal effect -
11 blu   (9/26/2005 7:06:59 PM)
sharp and spot on exposure Joe. colours are great as well. but somehow doesn't quite get a "wow" out of me...
12 ray bayer   (9/26/2005 7:07:49 PM)
This is a great composition with such vibrant saturation. The balloons are placed perfectly.
13 J.JACINTO   (9/26/2005 7:17:19 PM)
Very good colors
and composition !
14 robinschooley (Robin Schooley)   (9/26/2005 7:36:13 PM)
#9 joe bellantoni: I've only done this twice. Once was with a large group outside of Phoenix. The other was outside of Palm Springs, but there was only a single balloon (ours) that went up. What a disappointment.
15 archera (Roland DiSabatino)   (9/26/2005 8:14:24 PM)
Up, Up and Away in my beautiful ballon! :O)
16 Kylie Winder   (9/26/2005 9:42:33 PM)
Great shot! I love all the colours and the composition. I'm hoping to go a local balloon festival again next year. Your patience paid off :)

A first class image. Excellent composition.
26 CherylB (I only lie when I do not like your pic)   (9/27/2005 7:13:11 AM)
Nice catch of so many in one frame. Down here you have to get up very early before the air heats up or you don't rise more than 5 feet. it's also quite boring down here and I think a ride over the country would be better than the endless rooftops here. Did they also do the the traditional "dip in water"?
27 ChrisC (Christopher Cove)   (9/27/2005 7:55:09 AM)
Wonderful shot, great compositon. I once flew into Geln falls once just after they took off. It was a great view!
28 btezra   (9/27/2005 8:47:58 AM)

29 nuno gaspar (miguel )   (9/27/2005 11:02:58 AM)
Bright work Joe. Effective colors and composition!
30 joe bellantoni   (9/27/2005 11:24:14 AM)
Some of you asked what this is . It is a smoke stack on a house in the woods...this is a country area and they usually have one going to take the dampness out of the air once the sun is on ots way out for the night.Actually you could see more than one to the right as it is more populated...If this were in the morning the whole hill is like this.
Others asked why so much brightness at night? Well I was able to get to a vantage point where the sun was on the front of the balloons facing me. If you don't do that they are very drab.So keep that in mind when shooting or looking for a spot. If you get to an area the night before it is a good idea to check which way the light is for the morning flight as well.

I´m very busy on these days, but I can summary my thoughts about this shot:
- VERY HAPPY, by the moment and by the feelings it brings for us.
Hey Joe !!! I´m leaving PB for awhile but I'll keep contact with you (and with another guys/gals) that I like on pb.
32 Zenonas   (9/27/2005 12:14:02 PM)

34 Rudi Van Gestel   (9/27/2005 1:14:41 PM)
Love this kind of shots, Joe!
I missed one day here, on the most important balloon contest of the year, because I had other things in mind, maybe for next year!
Anyway, I like this one a lot!
35 FrankT ( pot'hbe'chug yay qa)   (9/27/2005 2:11:09 PM)
colorfull result Joe, where you in one also?
36 Keith Frost   (9/27/2005 2:25:01 PM)
A great feeling of space and depth, like the way the two central balloons overlap but the others are separated. I think the earlier post was just a teaser for this ! Outstanding - Keith
37 Arman   (9/27/2005 3:34:01 PM)
Great photo!)
38 Terry Forrest (Teresa Forrest)   (9/27/2005 4:40:28 PM)
Very nice, Joe. Like someone said, you couldn't have done better with getting the placement of all of them, even if you had choregraphed it completely by yourself. Your wait for them to get into these positions was definitely worth it. Super colors. Just as well there weren't any clouds, as I think they would have competed with the balloons and wouldn't have made the photo quite as nice as it is.
39 Stephen Bonk   (9/27/2005 4:54:08 PM)
That is a very nice balloon shot. You caught them all grouped togethor nicely. My brother-in-law is a hot air balloon pilot. I have been with him on the grounds as the balloons were taking off but I have never gone up with him. I get verigo just being on Ferris Wheels and always chicken out of going up in the balloon.
40 Ehdae   (9/27/2005 7:31:57 PM)
perfect
41 John More   (9/27/2005 7:35:03 PM)
