Thanks folks - this is a captive bird, hence posted under animals. Able to get the full frame as I was virtually on my back in a ditch pretending to be a mouse : )

#6 cARTerART(Claire Carter):

I should have voted higher, on your back in a ditch is worth at least another .2 or so, LOL!
8 Keith Frost   (12/21/2005 6:34:10 AM)
Absolutely stunning Claire. Beautiful softness yet sharp in the right places, really like the warmth in the colours and the wing position too. Great contact with the subject. Bill, Joe , watch out!! Keith
9 CherylB (I only lie when I do not like your pic)   (12/21/2005 6:50:35 AM)
did you make little squeaking noises too? :)

this is excellent! and the included surroundings really makes this one a cut above. I might be tempted to tone down the dark area bottom right and clone this outbut is superb as is, really.
10 Kenn Reay   (12/21/2005 6:56:34 AM)
Stunning. You can really feel the softness of the feathers and you've captured great detail. The muted background complements the subject beautifully. Kenn

14 Iren Vatne   (12/21/2005 8:06:36 AM)
I love this! Beautiful light, a perfect model and very well done. I would probably have rotated the picture a bit and croped it, but that's just me and yours works just fine for me too.

19 Cheryl Surry   (12/21/2005 11:16:26 AM)
Hey that's my owl ;-))

Last time I show you my secret place for birds of prey - great image Claire and good to meet you on Sunday.

Expect we'll be seeing you again in the Spring then. Now 5, 6 what shall I do?

Good job I wanted to do the outside shots whilst the light was just about perfect
20 Andy Cooper ( What I SHOULD have done was.....)   (12/21/2005 11:36:12 AM)
He looks terrific in that wonderful light,
nicely complimented by that BG...reckon the
only way to make it any better would be to
rotate a couple of degrees CCW, to make the
wire horizontal, and the post vertical.
Very well done.
21 joe bellantoni   (12/21/2005 12:19:57 PM)
Claire: The bird is but I have to take off points because you left too much crap in the
All kiddding aside nice light and great image....where is Cheryl Surry these days I expected this was hers till I saw your name...again only kidding.
22 joe bellantoni   (12/21/2005 12:20:30 PM)
#19 Cheryl Surry: That will teach you to give out spots.
23 4wd   (12/21/2005 12:55:01 PM)
I have come across a wild one sitting apparently dozing on fence posts a couple of times in broad daylight.
It would be too much to expect to have a camera at the same time of course!
Re. Joe's jokey point: I suppose with some work you could clone out everything except the post itself - surely would be worth trying.

LOl Ms Surry was right! See this is what you get when you diversify. Got to agree the light is great. Guess the one that comes to my bedroom window never looks this good.

Clair, As a general rule, I don't like Z00 shots at all. I seldom vote for them, if ever. This owl is an exception. Wouldn't have known if you hadn't told us. This is one great owl shot. The light is outstanding. 9.8 to you. We miss you.................gerald
