detailsFirst of all, I apologize for not being active here at all for the past few months, but I have been in the process of permanently relocating half-way across the US from Oklahoma to my new home in Southwest Florida (On the coast of the Gulf of Mexico).

I had not picked up my camera at all and had almost forgotten even how I did my settings, as this photo probably shows. LOL. This photo of a Great Egret sitting up in one of the pine trees was taken not to far from my home. We have a lot of preserve area that supports wildlife in the area where I live.

Canon 7D, EF 100-400mm @ 400mm. ISO 250, 1/640 sec at f11, Early morning light.

Your new upload is more than welcome Linda. Very nice. Good details, use of colors and wonderful composition. Sharpness is on the edge but can also be caused by compression for upload.
As said welcome back, looking forward for you future uploads.

Thank you all for your comments.

#3 B2O: I do agree that the sharpness is a bit on the edge. I am still getting my photography "legs" back, particularly for wildlife and I was at the limit with my lens, which is a bit tricky.

Great capture. I would crop it from the left side a bit (as per suggestion) just to loose the oof pine twigs.
Get a back pack and explore the neighborhood:)))

Nice shot. I would suggest a different crop, and would also suggest lifting the shadows to give the whole image a lighter feel, removing the denser blue around the birds body

Thank you both for your suggestions and crop. I was very torn about how to crop this image as I liked a bit less space around the bird, but also was afraid that the result would look too centered. However, both of your suggestions look strong and well balanced.

Great comp, love the contrast between the bird and the greens.
