I would like to have seen more detail in the foreground as its a big black space - cropping may help but that may take out the scale of the pic. the peak is a stunning vista right enough though.

Yeah, the lighting was tricky because I like the amount of light on the peak and snowy parts, but attempts at HDR to lighten the foreground just looked...wrong... As for the cropping, I believe cropping is one of my biggest weaknesses right now. Suggestions?

The upper part of the image is WONDERFUL Doug and I completely understand why you took this image focussing on the light on that peak. Very nice. Agree with Georgie and I am not completely sure about improving. Crop or lightening the Shadow lights. I think Cropping is the best to keep fully attention on that special light on the peak.
But it is al up to you

There is detail in those shadows that can be brought out, and I might a cropped a little to put more emphasis on the mountain top. Would be a fine view to behold.
