detailsThis is turning out to be one of my most popular aurora photos even though it's not my favourite. Oct 3, 2001 saw a very active auroral storm in bright moonlight. This was just outside Whitehorse, Yukon.

Three things amaze me: 1) The beauty of the auroras themselves. 2) You got a reflection of the darned things! 3) You have at least one aurora shot that you like even better. I can't wait to se it. (9.6)

What a great shot Phil. Not just the auroras, but the composition and the reflections in the water really enhance this exceptional photo.

What a wonderous awe inspiring capture. We don't very often get to see this from the lower fortyeight.Any one of several elements here would be a sound capture but to gather them all together in one shot is outstanding. If there could be one nit it is the clipped aurora at the top.

Funny how often one's favorites don't resonate as well with a general audience but something you think is OK totally turns others on. This image although not as good as the Photo Life cover this month comes close to the qulaity of your previous masterpiece. 9.0

Phil, you continue to amaze with the variety and glory of your Aurora shots. The reflections and foreground details are magnificent, leaving one to sit here and wonder just how does one improve upon an image like this? Is there an "ultimate" aurora shot that you still seek?
outstanding shot!

Phil, WOW..... What can I say that hasn't been said.

I have been experimenting with some night shots and am wondering what shutter speed/f-stop/film you used here. You have kept the starts as pinpoints so I'm guessing a 30 sec. or less exposure??? I just submitted a night picture (Windmill in Japan) and would love to have your feedback since you are so much more accomplished at this then me.

Best Regards,
