Wauw, great drama Roger. A very impressive sky!

Roger this is so intense. Why would you chase a storm in a plane? And I thought I was crazy. LOL... Beautiful colors. Take care. Barb.

Hello! I like the picture... but i have a question! Did you use the photoshop to put the airplane? If not... it´s really nice composition! Have fun
27 Roger Ranney (Don't block the shot)   (12/17/2003 9:48:33 AM)
#26 Pedrito: Yes, this is a composite.
28 dalex (Dirk Alexander)   (12/17/2003 10:28:23 AM)
Roger, the storm image would stand alone as a great shot! The plane, though very well executed, doesn't quite work for me.
29 Olivier Deme   (12/17/2003 10:29:33 AM)
It's nice, Roger, but I think a composite should automatically be classified under the "digital" or "photo art" category.
30 Curtis Forrester   (12/17/2003 10:50:56 AM)
Great scene and composition! I agree with Oliver about the classification though. (9)

42 mrgetz (Thinkyouneek )   (12/17/2003 3:51:16 PM)
Dramatic and a good composition, but a little too harsh. I'd have eased off a little. Nice shot.

Roger, at first I didn't like the plane, only someone insane would be flying anywhere near that cloud, but then I thought BB might be a pilot so it could happen :)..it's got great drama..merry x-mas

55 archera (Roland DiSabatino)   (12/17/2003 7:38:03 PM)
Powerful and dynamic, this race against time! "Land voluntarilay oh pilot of the sky, or I shall crush you and pound you into the ground", spoke the angry cloud! I think he'll make it to safety. Expect a possible call from Disney studios, Rog! Great work! :O)
56 LindaY (Linda Y)   (12/17/2003 7:43:15 PM)
This is absolutely fabulous, Roger! I love the feeling of the storm and the plane looks very "normal" over the fields. I know that this is a composite, but I am sure that many people are not aware of how fast storms can boil up in our part of the country. It would not be unrealistic for me to assume that this was a real shot as I am sure that an occasional crop duster has been caught up in a major spring storm. Excellent!
57 Bill Taylor   (12/17/2003 8:33:38 PM)
Very dramatic !! Good stuff, Indeed!!!
58 photoservicemgr (Dan Hutchinson)   (12/17/2003 11:03:23 PM)
Some cowboys ride more than horses. Love how it all come together in this one.
59 gdanger (George Dangerfield)   (12/17/2003 11:03:26 PM)
A very cleverly created image Roger, the dramatic storm clouds help provide strong impact, the addition of the airplane adds a nice focal point! I am a bit bothered by the small overexposed portion of clouds towards the URC, if this was mine, I would have been tempted to clone over it using other parts of the clouds. And I am a bit undecided about the location of the plane, on the one hand it seems a natural spot with the glowing clouds behind it to help highlight it, on the other hand, it is about to fly out of the frame, and thus take my eye out with it. Still a very impressive effort, congratulations on it's success here at PB today!
60 herman blockx   (12/18/2003 3:06:42 AM)

Very good photo
66 Terry Forrest (Teresa Forrest)   (12/18/2003 9:13:57 PM)
Dramatically dynamic, Roger and worthy of all the great comments. The cloud is spectacular and except for 1 tiny area that looks a little bright to me (but then with my right eye, I'm not sure if I'm seeing right), I don't see how you could have done this any better. Did it make POTD? I've been kind of out of it for the last couple days typing finals papers for Maria while she dictates them to me because I'm a faster typist! (9.25)
67 Terry Forrest (Teresa Forrest)   (12/18/2003 9:15:47 PM)
Aha, I just got my answer when I went to vote -- double POTD -- HUGE CONGRATULATIONS!! BTW, great title, too.

75 viola   (1/28/2004 11:05:45 AM)
did you take any of the images that made up this
76 Roger Ranney (Don't block the shot)   (1/28/2004 11:38:34 AM)
#75 viola: I took the cloud scene one spring evening returning from Dumas Texas to Pampa. The crop duster plane was taken later in the year near the same spot on a very bright day. With both subjects I took several photos and chose these two to put together for this image. Thank you for your comment.
77 Roxane   (1/30/2004 10:48:49 AM)
