Nice catch, especially because life goes on in the bg even thogh there is a superb jump going on. I'd stare.

Viewing these shots has been a real treat. Where were you situated when you took this one?

#3 Roger Ranney(Just my opinion): Roger, these Freestyle Motocroos stunts were 1 of several "sideshows" to the US Open Surfing Championships held annually next to the Huntington Beach Pier, called Beach Games. The event lasted 9 days. Over a span of about 4 weeks, large temporary grandstands were constructed on the sand just above high tide for the surfing. Behind that, there are numerous vendor boothes. There was a stage for live bands. There was a wooden "swimming pool" surrounded by it's own grandstands for skateboard events. Next to that, there were the ramps for motocross. On Saturday, I was on the sand next to the path of the jumps. Sunday, I went to the skateboard bleachers about 40 feet high near the top of the jump trajectories to get prospective of the height. This event was huge with film crews, athletes and models everywhere. You can probably find footage on TV and the net. I am thrilled that so many of these shot are received so well by PB users. One is the only Sports category shot in the Top 100. Thank you all very much.

David, I love the whole series. Did you spend any time at the US Open?

Superb. Comp, angle, unusual viewpoint, pin sharp, juxtaposition of subjects (raging snarling motoX bike - serene beach scene).

I actually came here to complain about the banner you stuck to the photo then realised what it really was

Superb

Among the best machine sports action shots posted here. Perfect timing in perfect context and well composed from a different angle. No nits here. This has been selected as In the Running for the 2005 Dido's Deluxe Sports Dandies. (9.25)
