Good capture of the moment! The colors are a bit on the light side for the water. You were over 600 mm focal length@ 1/350. Did you use tripod or you have strong and steady arms?LOL:)

Appreciate the comments George. Actually the water color is pretty much spot on. I was there several days earlier and shot the Womens World Surfing Championships. The light on this wave is coming from the upper left part of the image and if you've never experienced the water in Maui the color is real. I was using a tripod with a ball head with this gear. You're right, with the digital 1.5x increase this setup equates to about a 900mm.

Super catch. The top wave seems a tad blurry or too bright.

A classic surfing shot Randy! Nice to see a post from the D2H. I found that camera to be very very fast and a joy to use. Thanks for posting this one.

Don't crop, the Wave is the main character in this picture, not the surfer. It's not so light, with the sun shining trough the thin top of the wave.

What a super wave and outstanding stop-action shot. I've seen water that color in other places, so I have no doubt that it is true color. I go along with the *don't crop* contingent, since as good as the surfer's pose, etc., is, I believe the wave is the main thing here, too. Congratulations on your POTD - sorry I missed it when you 1st posted it! (8.75)
