I love this image...what mm lens were you using?

Lovely rich colours! When I take a shot like this I put black paper behind the flower head. Is that what you've done? (9)

i love this shot too. this is the sort of shot i like to take as well- kind of abstract, but still very recognizable. i am impressed that you were able to get such excellent detail and exposure with that camera (i just got one and am still trying to tame that flash!).

Paula this is beautiful and colors are fantastic but I don't like the large black area. I don't know what you could have done instead though. Perhaps a slightly different angle.(8)

Thank you very much for your comments and votes. Mary, the information from my photo records the lens at 22.9mm, but bear in mind that this is a digital camera and doesn't equate with "normal" lens sizes.
Mark, this was taken inside on a "studio" table and no, not black black dressing gown!
Greg, I hope you're having fun with the 990, we have been really impressed with it's macro capabilities. I didn't use the on-camera flash for this shot, our lighting set up includes a filter that fixes over the flash only allowing IR through to trigger slaves for the studio lights.
Allen, so you don't like my dressing gown then? :-) I can see your point about the large black area, but I was trying to include all of the frond. Thanks again.
