title In memory of Bill Lockhart
date12/24/2013 5:49:27 AM
detailsMy good friend Bill Lockhart sadly passed away on 21st December.

For those long standing members of PB, I'm sure you will remember him with fondness. He was one of the best bird photographers I've ever known.

Although we lived across the Atlantic from each other, we did meet on a number of occasions, most memorably on the Isle of Skye around 10 years ago when a number of Blinkers from around the world got together for a memorable week's photography.
This photo is from that week , and I remember sitting on the Pier with Bill at Elgol, chatting about this and that, just enjoying the moment.

Bill was a gentleman , and I am proud to have known him as a true friend.

Hi Les...
I am really sorry to hear that Bill is gone!
I learned a lot from him about using PS, and as you say he was a gentleman.
I remember his motto: Light is evrything.
RIP BILL....

I had a great luck to be on the same site with wonderful photographer and excellent gentleman at least during one part of his PB story and I can tell that his photos were excellent inspirations for many of us who learnt from him. Very sad. Rest in peace.

Let us remember once again about his fantastic photos.

Bill had largely finished posting here when I started, but followed his work on other sites and took great inspiration from his images.

A fitting tribute Les and I was proud to be one of the Skye group. Truly a great week and Bill was an inspiration to us all. Great to have our evenings together and to hear his perspective on things. I remember well that he commented that Keith Frost and I should set up our own pub (after preparing him a humble bacon sandwich} but we declined on the basis of profits being eaten/drunk. He was a great guy and an amazing photographer. Hope his work will be published further. Kenn

I had a great luck to take part in the memorably meeting on the Isle of Skye. Remember my admiration for Bill and other great photographers I met there. It is a pity that we meet again in such sad circumstances...
RIP.

It's hard to believe it was 10 years ago that I was being first inspired by Bill's wonderful work on PB. I was fortunate to spend a week on the Isle of Skye with a number of the early Blinkers and the chance to meet this wonderful character called Bill Lockhart. Bill became a friend and I relished the friendly banter and kind advice that he shared with us. I'll miss him greatly. Keith

I am so saddened to hear this. Bill was already a recognized artist, photographer, and all around nice guy when I first started here. I had hoped to meet him sometime in the near future as I am moving to Florida, just south of where he lived. Now that is a dream that will never be realized....

RIP Bill.

I'm so sad to hear this! Bill is one of the first photographers who told me some very important things about photography; he never didn't hesitate to help. For me he was one of the greatest photographers, I'll never forget him.
RIP
