It looks like a sport to me. That's quite a jump. I like the way you got his shadow on the mat also.

Very good action shot! How did he jumb that high? (8)

I remember this from before. You did a great job capturing the action here. He must have used a spring board?

You've captured some intense and unusual action, but this looks like a snapshot from the stands. We've lost the player's face because of his two-handed dunk style and there is a bunch of negative space that, while it works to show how high the player is, doesn't add much to the dramatic feeling of the photo beyond that. Looking at this situation, I might have tried to move over to the left and shoot the image head on with a longer lens as a vertical, sandwiching the face, the ball, basket and a bit of the air into something tight and more dynamic. I might also have worked the angle from down low right behind the base of the hoop with a wide and tele lenses to see how that looked (though that position was probably was not available to you). Just my thoughts and how I would have approached this shot, for what that's worth. Respectfully.

Forgot to say 7.25 and keep posting in sports. We need more good action shots. Thanks.

Paladin3 came up with some good suggestions for future shots. I would say for a first attempt at an action sports shot, you did pretty good. (7.50)
