detailsI am still exploring the "relationship" image...
It is easier w/ a newborn or small child.. they are constantly touched... a teen tend to want their own "space".... many of the images were uncomfortable to view... the tence feeling of back-off of the teen and the mother wanting her to be a child "just one more time"... hard to let go...
This was the last image in the dificult 2 hour shoot

Oh, you did really well! You captured the teen's independant "know all, get off my back" attitude and the tence teen mother wondering what will come next. On top of this, the tonal range and the composition is great. (the rest of the teen's hand and elbow could have been in the frame, but that is a minor nit.)

Letting go can be difficult... from both sides. I'll bet your "uncomfortable to view" shots are packed with lots of emotion, too. Don't discount them even if they weren't exactly what you were after. This is a powerful shot. Mom looks concerned. The teen looks nonchalant. Yet there is an unmistakeable bond between them.

Being parents of a teen I feel your pain in trying to capture a special moment. You did beautifully.

Absolutely stunning, Kaycee! This not only shows that difficult stage between the mother and her teen, but also expresses well the ambivalence that teen-aged girls have for their mothers. We all went through it and still remember it no matter how close we get to our mothers as we grow older. Toning, pose and everything are excellent! Even if this is the only good shot that you got in a 2 hour session (which I doubt), it would be 2 hours well spent just for the ability to capture this moment so perfectly.
